The entire length of this silvery blade has a deep purple luster and is etched with fanciful scroll work, while the hilt and pommel are wrapped in blue dragon hide.

Seciril is a Dwarvencraft Darksteel Shock Longsword +1.

It has been enchanted with magic to provide a +1 enhancement bonus to hit and damage.

Upon command, a shock weapon is sheathed in crackling electricity. The electricity does not harm the wielder. The effect remains until another command is given. A shock weapon deals an extra 1d6 points of electricity damage on a successful hit.

As a weapon forged from darksteel (see Magic of Faerun, p178), it inflicts 1 point of extra electricity damage when it hits. This is cumulative with the shock property, so total extra electrical damage done on a hit is 1d6+1. Darksteel weighs the same as steel, has hardness 10 and 30 hp per inch of thickness.

As a dwarvencraft weapon (see Races of Stone, p159), it is stronger and harder than a comparable masterwork item. A dwarvencraft item’s hardness increases by 2, and it gains an additional 10 hit points. In addition, it gains a +2 bonus on all saving throws. All of these effects stack with the similar bonuses for magic items if the dwarvencraft item is made magical. So Seciril has hardness 14 and 25 hit points.

    History

  • See Dungeon Magazine 82, p89
  • "Seciril" was once a rather infamous blue dragon, who met an untimely death at a young age at the hands of a young prince.
  • The young prince commissioned a blade of darksteel from the dwarves, and used Seciril's blue dragon hide to wrap the hilt and pommel.
  • Unfortunately, the young prince was killed before he could claim the blade or the throne.
  • Legends claim that whoever wields "Seciril" is doomed to a short life, as all the previous owners since the young prince have died in battle shortly after laying claim to the blade.
  • This was certainly true of its previous owner, a fighter named Khelsor Stormdancer, whose life was cut short when he was cut down by Jhorin Harpsinger.
  • Despite the legends, Jhorin Harpsinger is the latest to claim Seciril as his own.
