Hima is a female wood elf ranger.
Hima does not remember the name of her village - only the smell of burning pine and the screams of the dying as fire consumed everything she had ever known.
When she was just a toddler, the forest settlement where she was born was raided and destroyed - whether by orcs, humans, or something fouler, she never learned. The only memory that remains is the feel of her mother's fingers slipping from her as she placed an iron key in her hand and pushed her into a hollow log, whispering one last word: "Run."
And so she did.
Hima wandered alone through the ancient woodlands of the world, barefoot and barely more than a shadow. The forest was kind, in its own way. Foxes didn't fear her. Birds would warn her of danger. She learned to survive, to listen to the trees, and to move without being seen. Eventually, she followed the smoke trails and scent of food into a city (Astera) on the forest's edge - a sprawling, indifferent place where the stone streets were as cold as the people.
There, Hima became one of the invisible. A street urchin. A rooftop whisperer. A pickpocket fast enough to not get caught, and clever enough not to pick the wrong pocket.
But life on the streets also taught her about cruelty. Hunger. Corruption. People who preyed on the weak.
It was during this time that Hima began to develop a personal code. She started watching over the other street kids, teaching them to climb, hide, and steal only what was needed. When a gang of thugs began extorting the urchins, Hima made sure their leader disappeared into the night - and never returned.
An old half-blind ranger named Tharivol noticed the girl's potential. Instead of turning her in or ignoring her, Tharivol offered her something rare: guidance. The grizzled elf taught Hima how to track, how to fight with precision, and most importantly, how to protect instead of just survive. He spoke of the balance of the wilds, of the importance of watching from the shadows and striking only when needed.
For the first time, Hima had a mentor. A purpose.
Now, as a full-fledged ranger, Hima walks the line between civilization and wilderness. She still feels the pull of the streets - the pain of those who have nothing, of children like she once was. But she also knows the value of the wild, and she defends the natural world as fiercely as she would a hungry child in an alley.
She is quiet, observant, and deeply protective - not of nations or crowns, but of people. The forgotten. The lost. Like she once was.
Chapter 1
Gimble and Hima slept in and missed going out on patrol with the rest of Team A. The two of them got into some mischief of their own. They don't talk about it.
Chapter 2
Gimble and Hima were left to guard the two egg-nappers while the rest of the group went after the big bad boss. Gimble decided this was boring, and left Hima alone to guard the captives, while he raced to catch up to the team.
Chapter 3
Hima has become an expert hunter, excelling at wearing down prey as a collosus slayer.
Gimble opens with a salvo of three magic missiles at the black dragon across the cave, then with a surge of adrenalin, launches a flaming bolt from his crossbow at the beast, injuring it further. Hima then scored a critical hit against the wyrmling, piercing its throat with an arrow. The creature screeched in pain, as Yotte sang a melody of dissonant whispers into its psyche, shattering its soul and dropping the dragon dead.
Rolinar swung feebly at Amber and Sirni, missing completely. Automatically reacting, Gimble hurled three magic missiles at Rolinar, agravating his wounds. Her arrow ready, and acting on instinct, Hima critically hit the red dragonborn through the skull, killing him instantly.
