    Cold, hungry, alone. Those are my earliest memories. None of the orphanages in Waterdeep would take me in due to my fiendish heritage. Survival was difficult. I had few skills that were considered useful: I was too small to become a soldier, and I was too unfocused to enter the clergy. I learned to finesse others with my words and use my music to make some coin, soothe unruly crowds, and distract mobs if I needed to make a hasty retreat. My innate magic began to build when I was still a teen and they proved useful. When my performances weren't enough to supplement my income, I found other ways to line my purse with coin. The first time I was caught stealing a loaf of bread, I was beaten to within an inch of my life. I swore then and there I would never get caught again. My appearances didn't help much at blending into crowds (though they proved useful in scaring away the cowardly and the uninformed), but they did help me when I wished to attract a crowd's attention. When I had to maneuver around, I had to become less of a tiefling and more of a shadow. I accumulated new skills as well as new scars.

    I stayed out of the way of the other night stalkers in my area. For the most part, our ventures didn't overlap and there were few conflicts. I often saw other young unwanted on the streets and I could not stand by. Though it pained me, I would give what I could to help those even less fortunate than me. It was a hard life, but I started feeling more of a sense of fulfillment as time passed. I had few enemies, and even then, they were more rivals than anything else.

    The one exception was Reginald Dewleaf. A housebreaker of some talent, he was a gnome with a vicious streak. He did not like tieflings and made it quite clear that he did not appreciate my presence anywhere in Waterdeep. I had been doing some reconnaissance on a warehouse when I learned through my information brokers that Reginald was planning to relieve one of the richer merchants of some jewelry she was purchasing later that evening.

    Reginald knew the merchant stored her precious possessions in safes in her various mansions. He paid a pretty penny bribing one of the guards to learn where the jewelry was to be stored and planned on taking them soon after they were "safely" stored. Reginald's plan was going fairly well - he procured the jewelry and was making a quiet exit when he heard the stomping of feet approaching him from all directions. The city guard had been tipped off by an anonymous source to the crime. As Reginald was tackled to the ground, he felt more than heard my quiet singing. A small magical tug relieved Reginald of most of the jewelry. Regardless, he was facing a lifetime of backbreaking labour and I whistled a jaunty tune as I headed to my fence.

    Yotte Usano is a 20 year old male tiefling bard with a criminal background. He has brown skin with a red tinge, black eyes and dark blue hair. He is 5'8" tall and weighs 140 lbs.

    Yotte is slow to trust. He believes there is a spark of good in everyone, but it is hard to see it in himself since an innocent person is in jail for a crime he committed, and he seems to be okay with that.

    Yotte is trying to pay off a debt from a generous benefactor.


    Chapter 1

    Yotte was given the nickname of "The Yodeler" by his companions.

    The rest of his patrol was pretty uneventful for Yotte.

    At the Trip Away Inn, Yotte joined Amber and the kobolds in performing before the crowd. Without his and Amber's intervention, the kobolds could have caused a riot amongst the inn's patrons.

    Yotte was able to use some of his shadier contacts to purchase a thieves' tool kit. It might come in handy later.

    Yotte tried to ambush Banner's thugs as they rounded the corner, but they never came. Others had stopped them before he could.

    When Yotto cast detect magic in the pub cellar after the battle with the rat king, the only auras he could see were there magical trinkets. Oddly, he saw two auras from the Grimm's pouch. Necromany and Transmutation. The Grimm claimed his trinket had both. Yotte shrugged his shoulders and finished scanning the room, but finding nothing else of interest.

    While they had a short rest, the Grimm pulled out a worn and dusty rabbit's foot. He claimed he didn't realize it, but maybe it was magical too. He was able to discern its properties, and after discussing with the group, the Lucky Dusty Rabbit's Foot was given to Yotte to use.

    Damn, that shiny new lock on that rotten door in the cellar sure took a long time to pick, even with his new tools. Doesn't help when you have a bunch of random dudes making snide remarks over your shoulder, doubting your skills, or having Amber, the dwarven barbarian, wringing her great axe, hoping you'll fail, so she can just hack down the door instead.

    After Sirni's Story, Yotte has a sudden urge to buy himself a crossbow.
