The Grey Citidel

  • grumsh has entered into the unholy trinity
  • need to stop in 9 days, go to grey citadel
  • stronghold of the orc faction, overun and destroyed, tribes scattered
  • stop orc warlord, ritual to proclaim at grey citadel
  • Krull - orc warlord, chosen of Grumush, not from the surface orcs
  • orcs of skull crusher tribe and blood-eye tribe orcs
  • band of travellers from nearby town of Ovesta have been captured
  • defeated a camp filled with 23 orc of the boarsnaut tribe camp, including a fiendish orc with huge tusks sticking out of his mouth, and a pink coloured orc riding a beserk boar.
  • caught up to the 6 orcs who escaped the camp, killed 5, captured 1 to be interrogated
  • said the captured humans were prisoners to be used for sacrifice and that the ceremony was to start
  • grey tusk tribe had the prisoners
  • said the citidel is 1 day away
  • said there is the main entrance, but some walls of citidel have fallen down
  • said chiefs of all tribes have sent representatives
  • said 2 humans were in attendance, a Cleric of Bane and Zhentarim bodyguard
  • said that Razor, Chieftan of the Grey Tusks tribe, rebuilt the citidel, shaman said Gruumsh will unite tribe, that Razor is in charge of citidel, but not ceremony, shaman will annoint the chosen
  • said Razor has a wyvern beast as pet
  • said not enough space in citidel, so some orc camps are outside, but camped on other side from the approach party took
  • in a big epic battle, the Wanderers of the Wyld defeated Razor, his Wyvern, and orc warriors, and the Banites/Zhentarim
  • no prisoners or shamans were found, so the party seeks to find a way down further into the citidel.
  • Items in the throne room seem to be powered by dark necromantic energy (red garnet in statue and black liquid in fonts)
  • Found the tribute from the other orc tribes and the banite cleric and Zhents
  • the three lower levels of the citidel so far seem to be illuminated with a grey witchlight that makes the orcs stronger
  • while the orcs have not shown any of the corruption associated with the unholy trinity, a blob in a tomb was covered in red splotches, as was a worg (that also sprouted a tentacle) with a horde of orc barbarians.
  • rescued, Krax, the goblin warlock. He had been strapped to a Flesh Golem, that had red splotches marking it as part of the unholy trinity.
  • Krak was able to tell them what he overheard while a prisoner for several days at the citadel
  • the new prisoners are being kept alive (barely) as sacrifices for a ritual that will ascertain whether warlord Krull will be chosen by Gruumsh to unite the orc tribes of Kern
  • Krull will then lead them on a quest of conquest and to find the artifact known as the Binder
  • Gruumsh has allied himself with the Unholy Trinity and their worshipers
  • Over 3 thousand orcs now prowl the Rotun Mountains
  • Emissaries from nearly all the tribes have come to witness the ritual and judge for themselves whether Krull will be chosen and worthy to follow.
  • The tribal chieftains have declared a 'pax orcana' until the ritual is resolved. Orcs will not fight orcs.
  • The minions of Krull attempted to delay the Wanderers of the Wyld from interferring with the ritual.
  • They did not succeed and Krull was found to be unworthy of becoming the Chosen of Gruumsh.
  • With the 'pax orcana' over with, the orc tribes looted the upper levels of the Grey Citidel.
  • Vanark has taken the Maul of Gruumsh into the Fetid Fens to hide and protect it from the orcs.
